Security information is available everywhere from local hardware stores to the Internet about different ways that people can arm or protect their driveways. For example, there are different driveway alarm systems that people can buy. However, it is highly advised that people talk to professionals about which
products and companies will bets fit their own individual needs. There are alarm systems for driveways that only sound and signal for vehicles and that are activated by a certain amount or weight level. Other driveway security alarmsare instructed to only detect certain materials, like for example there are alarms that only activate large metallic objects. This is another example or way that driveway alarm systems detect vehicles like cars. For people who want the best and most up to date information on driveway alarm systems, the Internet is a never fail source of valuable, reliable and straight up practical information that people can come back to time and time again. Go to the Harbor Freight website http://www.harborfreight.com/
They have cameras that have are not that expensive.
There are several stores in Mass, one in Attleboro, one in Worcester, one in Fall River and one in West Springfield. You can also order on line and have the items shipped to you.
What do you think? Answer below!Question by loving_care_37601: What is the BEST security camera I could get to monitor my driveway?
My tires got slashed. I know who did it, but have no proof. I need a security camera for outside. I would prefer for it to have a motion detector. Color doesn’t matter & sound doesn’t matter. I need it to be the lowest cost as possible. Thanks!

I don’t know if the best is right, but certainly the easiest to install at the lowest price is the X-10 brand.

We are going to install a security gate on our driveway with a solar powered automatic opener on it. It will have a key pad to enter a code to open it. How does this work with shipping deliveries? Also things like fire/police/ambulance? I understand the opener can have multiple “codes” so do we keep one on file with emergency and shippers or is their a way to add the “gate code” to the return address field on shipments? Thanks!
I had emailed UPS and just got a call from them… the lady said security gates are quite common and we just call them with the “code” and it will be kept in the truck. No big deal. I am often on the road with my business and not at home (a reason for the gate) so an intercom would be of no use.

Most delivery businesses have “Delivery instructions” that can be placed with the shipper. Not sure about emergency services so I would contact them.

We have a garage not attached to the house (with electricity) that we can keep the car in, but I want to get an alarm system. I’m looking for something that just sets off a siren, not a monitored thing. Any ideas or websites I can check out?

Here’s one site I found when I did a web search for “home security”. Remember, unless someone’s home all the time any system doesn’t do much if it’s not monitored. If you insist on going it alone, at least buy a system that will send a message to your pager or phone.

What do you think? Answer below!Question by fengineer08: Good security camera for monitoring my driveway?
I’m looking for an affordable home security camera system to monitor my car in my driveway at night. I have poked around online a little bit and have found a few simple looking systems. I’m looking for something that can record onto a hard drive, no VHS, and I’d like to stay away from a DVR too. Does anyone know of a good company that makes something like this? I only need one camera and it can be mounted indoors (indoor porch window overlooks car in driveway), and I need decent night vision capabilities.
Again, I’d like to find something that can record onto a hard drive or a jump drive or something like that.

Add your own answer in the comments!Question by : My car left oil spots on the landlords driveway, can this be deducted from my security deposit legally?
I’m a tenant moving out on June 15th, my car leaked oil for a while (didn’t have money to fix at the time) so in effect, our asphalt driveway has oil spots from my car.
I’ve tried cleaning them but they won’t come out. We lived at this rental for 2 years and I’ve never been given any warning about the spots, I don’t even think when the landlord came he even noticed them. The house is older and I can guarantee the driveway hasn’t been resurfaced or treated within the last decade.
Come move out can he legally deduct any money from the security deposit?
I do admit I made the spots, it was not intentional and for the life of me cannot get them out.
My lease has no specific provision about the driveway it just has the outside grounds must be kept neat although he pays for lawn care.
I’ve been told cars leak oil and this is wear and tear, a damaged driveway short a of a specific lease provision prohibiting such an act, this is wear and tear.
The house is over 70 years old, it’s most likely been decades since the driveways been repair or maintained, meaning the actual value of the driveway should be 0 given the duration from last repair.
When calculating the value of a driveway, if not repaired in decades, I assume you cannot draw a value given it’s value is 0 if a really old driveway.
Now if this driveway were resurfaced or sealed 2 years ago, I could understand assuming an actual dollar damage given it’s new life.
It’s like trying to charge someone damages on a 1970 black and white tv, correct? They have no value.
If I damage a 1970′s tv, it has no value.
If I damage a 1970s driveway – it has no value.
If I damage carpets that are 20 years old – it has no value to quantify damages.
How can you say I’m responsible if the driveway is very old, doesn’t it fall under wear and tear assuming the driveway hasn’t been refinished in a long time?

Of course he can charge you for the work. It will take some kind of industrial cleaning to remove them for the next tenant.

There are different ways to defend or protect homes from the outside from intruders who want to get inside. Perhaps one of the least common and used options available to people are the doorbells that sound like guard dogs to ward off intruders or unwanted visitors, or just amuse everyone. These do not necessarily work and if people want the actual and real protection of a guard dog, they may consider investing in the real thing.
Security blog networks exist so that people can share their ideas, opinions and concerns in a safe and open environment about the different ways they can protect the premises of their homes. It is important that all people feel as secure and safe as possible within the realm of their home and property.
People like different things and for people who prefer not to spend too much money on protecting their home, there are different options like mirrors that offer a cheaper and inexpensive way for people to keep an eye out on their property without the expenses and ordeals that it would take to install a security camera or something of the like.
Contrary to many people’s popular, but incorrect belief, people who are concerned about the wellbeing of their property and possessions do not need to join an online social network in order to get free security blog information. There are plenty of sources online that offer free information to people without the need of a subscription. People can read open forums, without contributing if they do not want to, about the different ways people protect and guard their homes. They can read up on different companies who are trusted, companies who are not trusted, common concerns of people just like them and how they are overcoming different problems and issues that they have encountered while trying to protect their homes.
Or for people with animals either with sensitive ears or who are startled and riled up by loud sounds of doorbells or intruders, they do not need to be antagonized and so people with the option to turn off their doorbell can always turn their doorbell back on when they are expecting company for gatherings like parties or hangout sessions. For these same animal or pet owners, it could be a good idea to turn off doorbell options when they leave the home so that the animal or dog will not freak out by any excessive doorbell pressers. It is important that people remember that they do not have to open their door to anyone, there is no law that says that anyone has to open the door to anyone, so especially when people are not home, they need to remember this minor factoid and understand that they will not be there to open the door to anyone or to allow anyone in, so what does it matter anyways if the doorbell is turned off when they are not home? The answer is that it will not much matter, but people who use this option for when they are not home need to remember to turn their doorbell back on once they get home.
Not all people want or need a doorbell. Resources say that the number of doorbell purchases has decreased and people are becoming just as satisfied with doorknockers. This is fine as long as people are keeping in tune with what they really need and want.
Questions About Doorbell Installations:
Question by bill yahoo: Warm air furnace installation too noisy. Furnace was installed in attached garage, against living room wall.?
Installer said he had to cut thru the wall into the living room to have an air intake. So now, it’s just like the darn furnace is sitting there in my living room when everything kicks in. I remembered a house I used to live in had warm air furnace, in the basement. Did not have ductwork leading into main part of house for air intake. My house now has no basement. But couldn’t the whole area of the garage itself have been used for air intake? Horrible noise, can barely hear the tv, phone, or doorbell, and talking becomes a shouting match when the motor and blower kick in.
This is a brand new installation, I was really shocked how noisy it is, I really was thinking the blower assembly might be defective or need some lube somewhere?
twyla….based on how noisy mine is, I dont see how you could possibly have yours in a closet w/louvered doors in a location like that

Answer by DADEE K
Using the air from a basement is not good for so many reasons.
Using the air from a garage is even more a code issue being that you would be pulling fumes from toxins or fumes from your car that can and will kill you.
Yes having a return duct installed basically into the unit that close, does cause massive noise when running.
In this case, I would have moved the return further from the air handler, allowing some ductwork between the two, thus cutting down on noise.
Or if it applicable, run ductwork into the attic and install return further into the home.
The equipment is designed for a certain amount of airflow in and out so slowing the fan speed down is probably not possible, but you would need to speak with the installer.
hope this helps.
Give your answer to this question below!Question by Nancy R: Furnace and AC question!!!?
I just had central AC installed. The weather has been nice and I haven’t had a need for either the heat or the air, but 6 days after the AC was installed, I had to turn on the heat, which didn’t work!! Now, the contractor, who was hired by one of the bigger chains, says that it isn’t their fault, that my furnace was old anyway. Even though the sales guy that quoted me, told me he’d get the windows replaced before the furnace because the furnace worked just fine. Not to mention my doorbell doesn’t work after they rewired everything. It just ticks me off that he is trying to pin this on the furnace and can’t just say, yeah, we may have made a mistake. So, whats the likelihood of the furnace actually breaking at the exact time of installation of the AC? Because it worked just fine prior. Am I being unfair in placing blame on these guys or does something not sound right?
Thanks!

Answer by j_son_06
The furnace may have broken at a different time than the installation of the AC because you said that it was 6 days after the AC was installed that you tried to use it.
What do you think? Answer below!
There are different doorbell options for different parts of the house. Different parts of the house includes doorbells that are not just for the front door, but that can also be added to the back and side doors as well. There are even doorbells that can be attached to the garage, certain summoning systems are not really doorbells at all, if they are not activated by a human hand or touch, they are more like alarm systems, it all depends on what the homeowner is looking for and what complies with his or her security needs.
Door chimes, articles explain however, are typically only reserved for the front door alone because they are large pipes that give off a certain décor. Unless people have a fancy backdoor or side door that gets lots of traffic and is used often, people may want to stay away from using other parts of their house for door chimes.
Articles explain that there are different and much more old school options for people with personal chefs and cleaning crews. For the services provided by private and personal chefs, cleaning crew or others, there are certain parts of a house that are muted to any doorbell sounds, as not to disturb the home owners. Such services are usually given to people with large and spacious houses or properties. There are even some houses that have coach house attachments in the back, behind the building itself that are specifically for live in people to provide services like cleaning or cooking. These people can be summoned from the main home or house through a doorbell so that people do not have to be bothered to move to get them. Homes with these options are old and were built in the time when telephones were not so popular.
It is not uncommon for people to request doorbells with different options that allow people to adjust the volume on them. Sometimes people may want their doorbells to be quiet and turned off for a period of time, for whatever reason. For people with kids who need their sleep, the doorbell muter may be a wise investment.
It does not matter if people own a wired or wireless doorbell in their home, they can still have the different volume options that they need. There are doorbells for old people whose ears are not so good anymore or just not functioning at their best and highest level or who are hard of hearing, whose hearing is going or has already gone. These doorbells often activate at a louder decibel than many regular doorbells do, in order to make sure that they are heard by their owners.
For people who cannot hear at all doorbells do not emit a sound, but instead a flashing light so that it can get the attention of who is inside, soundlessly, since they will not respond to sound. While most deaf people can sense sound through feeling the vibrations, it would be beneficial to skip over and forgo the use of anything with sound and instead stick to things that are sure to grab a better hold of their attention. The different doorbell resources that are available depend on the situation of the person in need.
Some people do not need doorbells, not everyone does. Some people prefer doorknockers. For people who have no doorbell and no doorknocker, they know that when someone is at the door, it is up to the individual to let whoever it is inside that they are visiting and he or she will, even if it means banging on the door until someone comes out.
Alarms for windows that summon the people of the house, living space or property when opened or touched from the outside only allow for people to open up their windows and get some fresh air or let in a cool and refreshing breeze into their living space without activating their alarms by themselves. This kind of alarm system is also good for reserving battery and saving energy on their alarm security system. People rarely need to open their windows from the outside and such an occasion usually means a burglary is about to ensue. There are additional alarms that people may think about installing like different driveway sensors that help to prevent intruders by alarming the owners of a home when someone brings an unauthorized vehicle onto the premises of their own home.
There is additional information that people can find online or through other sources about which kind of alarms are best for their situation. Driveway security information is available to all who seek it out.
The other possibility is that the home owners need to break into their own home because they misplaced their key temporarily or accidentally locked themselves out of their house. In cases like these, it is a smart idea for people to create a hiding spot for an extra or spare set of keys. Deciding on a good hiding spot is just as important as getting the extra keys made themselves. Hiding another set of keys on the property is a convenient method or idea, but could prove problematic if the decision is not chosen wisely. It is a good idea for people to hide their keys inside of their garage if the garage door is automatic and activated solely by a numerical code. It is not a smart idea to hide keys to the home in a mailbox, under a garden gnome or some other equally obvious place.
There are mirrors on buses that are there for the bus driver in order for him or her to see what is going on within the bus, in addition to the outside side view mirrors. The outside side view mirrors on a bus are extra large and super important on a bus due to the bus’s own large and enormous size. It is not always easy for bus drivers to see around their vehicle to the other traffic on the road, this is why the mirrors that are typically on a car are still on a bus, but just enhanced in size in order to aid the view of the one who happens to be driving it at the time. Sometimes just knowing that these mirrors, and sometime seven cameras, are there will keep perpetrators from acting out and will also minimize the number of criminal offenses on public transportation vehicles like buses.
There are at least three additional security mirrors at the front of the bus, on the inside in addition to the review mirror, which again is larger because of the bus’ enormous size. The two other mirrors are convex, which gives a closer view of the things reflected. There is another convex mirror that is located in the center of the bus by the center doors. This mirror placement is for the bus driver to keep not only an eye on who is getting on or off the bus at that point, but also to see the overall happenings of the bus in the middle and back sections that are unable to be seen by the driver without turning around.
There is additional information that is available to people on the crime rate in direct relation to mirrors and cameras on security blog networks found online.
